Why Absolute Surrender?

Good morning to each of you and welcome to a new week. Being new to this and knowing some of you used to be in a Facebook group I had, some of this may be a little redundant. So please bear with me. I will be adding a resources/recommendations page here at some point this week, and one of the first resources you will see is a book that has made an eternal impact by an author that I love. The book is Absolute Surrender and the author is Andrew Murray. Andrew Murray was a South African minister and writer who lived 1828-1917, who authored over 240 books and tracts. One of them “Absolute Surrender” is where I got the name for my site. As I have studied this, it has become my daily prayer. That I live surrendered to Jesus, abiding in Him daily.

Luke 9:23 – 27 – “23 And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross  daily and follow me. 24 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. 25 For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself? 26 For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. 27 But I tell you truly, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God.”

This is Jesus speaking, calling us to die daily. Dietrich Bonhoeffer said: “The cross is laid on every Christian. The first Christ-suffering which every man must experience is the call to abandon the attachments of this world. It is that dying of the old man which is the result of his encounter with Christ. As we embark upon discipleship we surrender ourselves to Christ in union with his death—we give over our lives to death. Thus it begins; the cross is not the terrible end to an otherwise god-fearing and happy life, but it meets us at the beginning of our communion with Christ. When Christ calls a man, he bids him come and die.”

I am learning what this call means, and am inviting you to join me, what it means to be absolutely surrendered to my Lord and Savior Jesus. I know it means putting Him first, putting Him on the throne of my life (which means I cannot be)! So that is what this page is about. What is means to live this out. That is why the name of the site. Thanks for reading! I hope you will join me on this journey.

  1. Good morning! Thank you for posting this! My prayer everyday-more of Jesus, less of me! The only way to do that is for me to surrender to the will of the Father! Have a blessed day, my son! I love you❤️
