Your next breath

Are we guaranteed our next breath? As I breath in and breath out, without really thinking about it. I realize it is definitely something I take for granted. However the answer to that question is no! I am not guaranteed the next one, it is a gift from God, so what am I going to do with it?

Isaiah 42:5

Thus says God, the LORD, who created the heavens and stretched them out,

who spread out the earth and what comes from it, who gives breath to the people on it

and spirit to those who walk in it:

Job 33:4

The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

I know one thing for sure that I want to do with the breath He gives me, is praise Him! I want to give to Him the adoration praise He deserves. I also want to share Him and His hope, grace, love, and mercy with everyone around me. One of the good things that came out of 2020 is a lot of great praise music. I listen to Maverick City a good bit and one of the ones they just released is “Come and Behold Him”. A verse that ties in with this song is 1 Corinthians 3:18

And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

When Jesus comes back, and we BEHOLD him, we will see Him as He is – the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. With my breath I want to make Him known! May my life and my breath make Him known. May we all use our breath to worship Him! Here is that song for you to use those next breaths on! Have a great day!

  1. What a great reminder of God’s soverignty. We worship the one who is in control of even each breath that we take. Thanks Shane for the encouragement.

    Psalm 34:1
I will bless the Lord at all times, his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
